Somatic Experiencing (SE™)

You don’t have to think your way out of this. Your body already knows the way.

Somatic Experiencing™

You’ve tried to understand your patterns. You’ve reflected, processed, and made sense of your story.

But your body still feels…
tense. on edge. shut down. exhausted.

That’s because trauma doesn’t just live in your thoughts.
It lives in your nervous system.

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-based approach to healing trauma that helps you gently release stored stress and reconnect with a sense of safety—from the inside out.

What is Somatic Experiencing?

Somatic Experiencing is a trauma-informed therapy developed by Peter Levine that focuses on how trauma is held in the body—not just the mind.

Instead of retelling your story over and over, we work with:

  • Body sensations

  • Nervous system responses (fight, flight, freeze, fawn)

  • Subtle shifts in tension, breath, and awareness

This allows your system to complete stress responses that may have been interrupted, helping you move out of survival mode and into a more regulated, grounded state.

Why This Matters

If you’re someone who is high-achieving, self-aware, and constantly “on”, you may have learned to override your body’s signals to keep going.

Over time, this can look like:

  • Chronic anxiety or overthinking

  • Emotional numbness or disconnection

  • Burnout that doesn’t go away with rest

  • Difficulty slowing down without guilt

  • Feeling “fine” on the outside, but overwhelmed internally

Somatic therapy helps you stop pushing through and start listening inward—without judgment.

This approach may be a good fit if:

  • You’ve done talk therapy but still feel stuck in your body

  • You struggle to feel your emotions or feel overwhelmed by them

  • You want a slower, more embodied approach to healing

  • You’re ready to move beyond coping and into lasting nervous system change

What Somatic Experiencing Can Help With

How Somatic Experiencing Works

In our sessions, I guide you through a gentle, body-focused process that respects your pace and honors your nervous system's natural capacity for healing.

Tracking Sensations

We begin by developing somatic awareness—noticing subtle body sensations, movements, and impulses. This builds your capacity to safely experience what's happening in your body without becoming overwhelmed.

Titration & Pendulation

Using gentle trauma processing techniques, we work with small amounts of activation at a time (titration), moving between comfort and discomfort (pendulation) to prevent re-traumatization while facilitating healing.

Completing Survival Responses

Trauma often leaves incomplete fight, flight, or freeze responses in the body. Through somatic experiencing, we help your nervous system complete these natural protective responses, releasing stored energy.

Building Resilience

As your nervous system heals, you develop greater capacity for joy, connection, and presence. You'll notice improved stress management, better sleep, reduced anxiety, and enhanced overall wellbeing.

A Different Way to Heal

You don’t have to force insight.
You don’t have to push yourself harder.

Your body already holds the blueprint for healing.
We just need to create the space for it to unfold.
